Described as “compelling”, “highly energetic”, “fascinating”, and “loud” by New York Concert Review, Noise Catalogue is an award winning contemporary music collective comprised of Madeline Hocking (violin), Dániel Matei (percussion), and Jonathan Collazo (percussion), in addition to the vast array of musicians and artists with whom they collaborate in their unique concert curations.
Noise Catalogue/Knox Summer performance featured a musical collaboration between ‘Sophie Knox’ Peters, Thomas Palmer and Noise Catalogue (AKA Madeline Hocking, Dániel Matei and Jonathan Collazo). The contemporary music explored randomness and chance in contemporary classical composition and paintwork as well as email communication, corporate training, interpretations on the traditional music of Hungary and the music and visual language of contemporary Iranian composer Bahar Royaee. Visual projection, spoken word, paint and of course music were the focus of the event.
Noise Catalogue was founded upon a shared passion for bringing new musical works to life, and a vision for diversifying the artistic voices in the world of contemporary music. Noise catalogue’s work is centered around intimate collaborations with composers and creators in other mediums, and composing genre-fluid original works which explore the members’ rich array of musical influences as performer-composers.
The ensemble maintains a busy performance schedule at venues such as the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, the Tenri Cultural Institute of NYC, the New School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Sō Percussion Studio, and Bito Performance Space at the Bard Conservatory. They have been awarded grant funding from the Foundation of Contemporary Arts, and were winners of the 2023 Dwight & Ursula Mamlok Junior prize, awarded to individuals or ensembles making a significant contribution to the performance of contemporary music.
